One of my pleasant discoveries in the Asean+ tourney is finding out that WGM Zhang Jilin also maintains a chess blog. I showed her my blog and she showed me hers. Alas it was in Chinese. So the only thing I could do was use Altavista’s Bebelfish online translator to try to understand some of her blog posts.

Spending 5 days in this scholastic chess tournament has definitely been a new experience for me. I get to see the absolute dedication a parent has to his or her child. It’s easy to overlook how much sacrifice each chess parent has made so that they can see their child take part in this tournament.
