ASEAN+ Youth Team Chess Championships News

Thanks to Remis Aman sharp eyes for spotting these chess news in the media as well as other blogs and websites:-

The week-long ASEAN+ Youth Team Chess Championships 2007 is supported and sponsored by Masterskill College
of Nursing & Health together with the Education Ministry.

An allocation of RM100,000 has been set aside for the sponsorship programme to introduce scholastic chess in schools.

Something interesting to further read about Edmund Santhara, Masterskill College of Nursing & Health CEO,
is also an avid fan of chess (even the College boardroom has chess sets). He also played in the very first Malaysian Open. I will dig up his games later to view :) :-

He was recently named as Malaysia’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year 2007. He will represent Malaysia at the world award event at Monte Carlo in May 2008.
