First moblog of the year
There was two tournaments today in KL and I didn’t know which one to go to.
I didn’t plan to go to either as I spent another all nighter doing programming. I finished at 7 am and made the decision to take part in one of them.
There was the KLCA open and also the CAS tourney. In the end I went to the CAS tourney because I didn’t want to go thru th ehassle to describe to the taxi where the place was. I went there once but with my bad sense of direction I’d end up over paying for the taxi.
So CAS tourney at Wilayah it was.
I guess because of the clash of eveets the CAS only had 40 participants./
However my hopes for finishing top 10 were dashed as there were many strong players at thi event (definitely more than 10).
Anyway a self consoling fact (excuse) is that I’m here to enjoy myself.
It’s my first tourney of 2008!!
Started the first round getting into a losing position against Ismail Ahmad’s brother. Luckily he is just a beginner and I could recover and win from a lost position.
Second round I met none other the Stonemaster Fadli - me beging White. I sac a pawn to mess up the Stonemaster King side pawn but of course that cheap trick had no merit and I lost with no difficulty.
Third round should be easier I thought. How wrong can you get !! My neext opponent was Ismail Ahmad himself.
He just lost his game in the second round to Ian Udani so I had to play him. As Black I used the Stonewall and lasted longer than the game against Fadli. Lost in the end when Ismail’s Rooks crashed thru and got to the seventh rank.
