SEME/UTM tourney next

Final Round Top of the Table clash between Langkawi’s Nur Ahmad Faiz Mohd Azmi & Penangite Anthony Liong In Kiat. Nur Ahmad Faiz won the event with 6.5/7 points.

Blitz anybody?
Someone was asking if there was a blitz tournament right after the national closed. Disappointingly that did not materialise. The good news is that there will be the RSC blitz chess this coming weekend at Royal Selangor Club, Dataran Merdeka. It’s on the 15th June (Sunday). I’m looking forward to play in this blitz [...]
GilaChess traffic down to normal
GilaChess traffic is back to normal (200 visitors daily) after the National Closed. That doesn’t mean we are back to the boring stuff. Not for long anyway. June is set to be another crazy month for 1-day-tournaments. It’s packed! It’s going to be another GilaChess month!

Fritz 11
As usual I’m pretty behind time in this. Just tried out Fritz 11 for a few weeks and I really don’t see much improvement over the features compared to Fritz 8.
The calculation feature is plain silly. It’s just visualising the board and thinking of combination without moving the pieces. Nothing special about that.
