Final Round 8 ends 4:00pm which is early enough for your breaking fast, right? But having chess tournament in the month of Ramadhan , and its the 1st day of the holy month in Muslim country like Malaysia looks disrespectful to say the least or may even be interpreted as Haram by some. With apologies to my Muslim friends.
if i am a resident in KL, then i don’t mind playing in the month of ramadhan.. coz, to me the month of ramadhan is like any other month, except it is a holy month, fasting is not a big deal since i am used to the tradition.. But having to travel and miss the first day of ramadhan.. that is something to think about..
I should think fasting during Ramadhan is a big deal to all right thinking Muslims and should not be compared to mere abstaining of food in other occasion. When one is obsessed with play and forget or not prioritize the true meaning of obligation to God, especially in circumstances where we have control or influence, I dread to think what other things can befall onto us by these organisers.
