Blogging on the cheap

Blogging on the cheap

No camera.
No wireless broadband in tournament hall.

All I will have would be two mobile phones(no 3G or EDGE) and my notebook.

I’m not complaining because I will be blogging live using tools such as
Twitter, Flickr to blog email etc. It will be challenging and fun as this
shows live blogging doesn’t have to be expensive.

I don’t understand you. Just ask the organisers for the neccessary equipment you need. If they don’t supply, just don’t report. Simple.

IMHO, the organisers owe it to you to make sure you are well equiped. They need you more than you need them.
There are many more important tounaments going on now than DATMO. Just ask and I am sure they will respond.

Sorry confused you guys with the above article. I’m talking about LIVE BLOGGING.

The thing is that my official responsibility is to do the bulletins for the DATMO and AmBank. I will post the results at the end of the day but I’m am NOT required to live blog. So the ransom tactic of not blogging doesn’t work here :)

In fact the task of writeups and reports for DATMO is assigned to Encik Ahmad Shafruddin (CAS President). Will announce his URL when it is available. Only logical as Remis Aman and I would be busy with bulletins and it is better someone else took the responsibility of blogging and reporting.

I still want to blog personally about the event using my own blog. Of course I wish I had my dream equipments like cameras, 3G/EDGE always-connected-internet connection, live cams, websites that can support video streaming. By next year perhaps. Getting out live info using text and pictures to the blog is good enough. I know that’s what I’d like to see if I was a web visitor.

BTW, the above post was a test post from email to blog feature from Flickr.

Just ask them for a camera to use. I am sure they will be happy to promote DATMO on the Net, especially this being the last one and many GM’s are taking part.

Andrew, if you want, you can borrow my camera for DATMO 2008. I unfortunately can’t attend the event full time but probably drop by for a short time.

Malaysian: I won’t ask as others are already tasked to do that. Ahmad Shafruddin has a nice high end camera which he will use to take pictures of the event. In that sense it would be well covered picture-wise.

Thanks Hairulov. If I can borrow it for the duration of DATMO that would be great!! I’ll leave all the photos taken by your camera for the week for you of course.

I think Shafruddin is taking fotos for other purposes and not for instant reporting. Then again you can make use of some of his fotos and I am sure he will let you have them. They are digital, so it is easy.

Yes. Good idea. He has given me his photos of events in the past. Just transfer from his memory card to my notebook and they are ready for posting.

I’m in the middle of installing a photo gallery now..
