Notebook is a must!
Even Masrin Erowan who I did not think used computers as an aid in chess preparation is now using a notebook.

After knowing the pairings, it’s just a matter of seconds for Masrin to pull up the games of Ismail Ahmad from Megabase.
Although it may not be enough time to prepare against specific variations vs Ismail, it’s always comforting to look at all your opponents game and get a feel for his or her style.
I saw the game between these two players. Ismail sacrificed some pawns to put two rooks on the 7th rank. Masrin cooly accepted the materials and defended the position.
