Two Can Play That Game buy Today’s game for the WWCC crown should be most interesting. Hou Yifan needs a win to get a shot at the title play-off while Kosteniuk only needs to draw with White to claim the championship. It is youth versus experience at the top level.
In a recent team match, a bunch of young top GM’s comprehensively defeated a group of "veterans" to demonstrate the might of the current players. Moreover, Hou Yifan is some 40 Elo points higher than her opponent and youth has a certain advantage at the tail end of a long tournament.
Nevertheless, in this head on match, Kosteniuk held all the thrump cards and was never in any danger of losing. In fact, Hou Yifan has had 2 incredible escapes from positions which appeared utterly lost. Fortunately for her, her end-game technique is superb and she never lost her head at the edge of the precipice. But a half point lead at this stage is priceless.
So, who shall it be? I believe, if the match goes the distance, Hou Yifan will win. She demonstrated this against Humpy, who is higher Elo rated than her by taking the play-offs 3-1. So, Kosteniuk’s destiny to be World Champion or runner-up a second time will be decided tonight.

Top 6 boards at the 4th Pichay cup are using DGT chess sets which are nice wooden sets. On lower boards they use PVC boards but the chess pieces are still wooden sets. I saw some wooden chess sets in the supermarket and the price is pretty cheap. Wish I had time to shop and buy back a set

She lost her first two rounds to Goh Weiming and Rolando Andador but bounced back to draw with compatriat Jia Haoxiang and beat WIM Irene Sukhandar (2262) and Edgar Reggie Olay (2398).
So far that’s a rating performance of 2340 which is good considering her current rating is at 2033. After both tournaments it’ll be no surprise she will receive a big rise in her rating. She will be playing IM Oliver Dimakilling (2479) in Round 6 today.

She lost to GM ‘Bong’ Villamayor, IM Alex Wohl, Zhang Jing and Jayson Salubre. She obtained draws from Edgar Reggie Olay and Karl Victor Ochoa. She is currently at 65th position in the tournament.

I dropped in and was not too adventurous to try out their native food and instead tried “Jolly Bee” which is very similiar to Mc Donalds. It even costed about the same. The above was about RM 8. It’s called the “Big Yum”
