Youngest participant in the World Youth 2008
This is Nguyen Huynh Minh Thien - a Vietnamese who is the youngest participant in the World Youth Chess Championship.
He learnt the game at the tender age 2½ years old!! His mother is a Women National Champion and is a coach. He picked up the game after showing interest while seeing her mother coach other children.
Although he has only 2 points from 9 games Minh Thien is only 4 years old! This means he can possibly take part in the World Youth for another 3 editions of the World Youth under the Open 8 category!
