As can be seen Ian Udani has been unbeatable lately taking first place in many weekend local tournaments. His latest exploit is winning the IIUM Open. It was by no means easy this time as he tied with Ismail Ahmad and NM Zarul Shazwan all with 7/8 points. However Ian had the better tie break.

Anyway it was a very strong tournament as can be seen from the player’s list. I got to meet “gilocatur” of gilocatur.blogspot.com fame and cikgu Mohd Hafiz Helmi (Training in chess) in the tournament too. Hafiz Helmi did particularly well finishing in 13th place. I thought he was joking when he said he wanted to finish top 10 in the early rounds.

I will put up the full results on Gilachess.com later today.
