KL Open - RM 45,000 cash prize fund

Looks like another big tournament is just around the corner and it’s BIG. Similiar to the Malaysian Open it also has the Open section for titled players (GM,IM, FM, WGM, WIM, WFM,etc) and a Challengers section for less stronger players. It has a third section for the Visually Impaired.

Thursday 18 December 0900 hrs Free day/Blitz Tournament

1300 hrs Prize Giving & Closing Ceremony

3. Time Control and Format

Swiss System; FIDE-rated and titled; Rate of play will be 90 minutes for the whole game with 30 seconds increment for every move starting from the first move.

4. Prize Fund (inclusive of Trophy, Medals & Special prizes): RM45,000

Open:

1^st Prize – RM10,000; 2^nd – RM5,000; 3^rd - RM3,000; 4^th - RM1,500; 5^th to 10^th – RM1,000 each; 11^th t0 20^th – RM500 each

Challengers:

1^st Prize – RM1,000; 2^nd – RM500; 3^rd - RM300; 4^th – RM150; 5^th to 10^th – RM100 each; 11^th to 20^th – RM50 each

Visually Impaired:

1^st Prize – RM1,000; 2^nd – RM500; 3^rd – RM300; 4^th – RM150; 5^th to 10^th – RM100 each

Simultaneous:

Winners - RM500 each

Blitz:

1^st Prize – RM1,000; 2^nd – RM500; 3^rd – RM300; 4^th – RM150; 5^th to 10^th – RM100 each; 11^th to 20^th – RM50 each

5. Entry Fees to be payable by 30 November 2008; thereafter a 50% penalty of applicable entry fee applies.

Open: GM/IM/WGM/WIM and players over 2400 F.O.C.

FM/WFM and players over 2300 USD50/RM100

2200-2299 USD75/RM150

2000-2199 USD100/RM200

*First 10 GM/IM/WGM/WIM and players over 2400 will get free board and lodging

Challengers: RM50

Blind: F.O.C

Simultaneous: RM50

Blitz: RM50

The KL Chess Association and Intchess (M) Sdn. Bhd. reserves the right to accept and reject entries. For the Open, players will need to have a FIDE rating of 2000 and above. The organisers however has the right to enter up to 4 wild cards in each section on a case to case basis.

6. The Playing Venue & Official Hotel

The tournament playing venue is at Commonwealth Hall, Bukit Jalil Stadium but is subject to change. Please check www.chessasia.net for any changes.

Official accommodation: Per day is single at RM250/USD70 inclusive of 3 meals or Twin/triple at RM150/USD40 per person inclusive of 3 meals
