Malaysia vs Singapore in World Youth 2008
Since there is no Malaysia vs Singapore match this year, a comparison on the performance of the Malaysian-Singapore junior final ranking position in the World Youth will have to suffice.
Singapore sent 17 juniors compared to Malaysia’s 10.
Malaysia performed better than Singapore in the Open U10, Girls U12 and Open U12 section.
Singapore was better than Malaysia in terms of ranking in the Open U14, Open U16 and Girls U14.
This is of course very subjective and serves no accurate measure of who is better. It’s just an interesting visual comparison of the budding talent between the two countries.
(Bold indicates a better ranking vs the other counterpart(s) in that particular section)

| 29 | Bakri Alia Anin Azwa | 1907 | 6,0 | 29 | Girls 14 |
Also interesting to note that none of the Malaysian met the Singaporeans in any of the 11 rounds except for Monisha Raja Jawahar (SIN) vs Nur Nabila (MAS) in the Girls U12 section in which the latter won.
Still, it’s worrying we did not do better in the older categories because those are the tougher categories. We should aim to break into the top 20s in the next World Youth for our Under 14 and Under 16 categories. That would be a good indicator that there is long term improvement over the years.
