It’s the end of the year and it’s a good time to upgrade and improve GilaChess.com 
Take a look at this new look I’ve been playing around with. Since most of the content for GilaChess is upcoming events and tournament results, the new theme highlights these two main categories. I think that should make it easier for readers to find what they want fast..

There are so many chess tournaments that are not known by the general public. Take the above Flextronics Chess Competion on 3-6 Nov last month (highlighted by a friend in Johor). Link: http://www.utm.my/kecas/
The Way We Were divx Perhaps it was a closed tournament. Anyway I know there are many such tournaments that are not highlighted in GilaChess.com simply because the organisers did not send any info. I wish they would though. More publicity and participants can only be a good thing. No?

I rarely ‘cover’ junior events mainly because I’m biased to events that I can take part in. I’ll try to add more ’scholastic’ and junior event reports here and in GilaChess.com. The children are the future right ??

Thanks to Hairulov for highlighting this news article in the News Straits Times a few days ago.
Ismail is now preparing himself to achieve a feat in the Malaysia Book of Records — he will be taking on 120 opponents at one time early next year. The current record, set this year, is playing with 85 opponents.
