So many things happened on the 1st day of 2009.
The first was of course GilaChess.com domain expiring and that wasn’t so nice. I thought my webhost would at least give me one or two days extra to make payments as they’ve done in the past.
Not all bad news as a couple of chess friends came to the rescue and raised RM 250 to pay partially for the webhosting bills. I paid the rest of the RM 450 and GilaChess.com as well as Maribelajar.com was restored. Even Susan Polgar offered to help financially.
I’ll leave the collection open at RM 250 and whatever extra donations that come it will go in for 2010 webhosting fees.
I lost my handphone while rushing from one bank to withdraw money (RHB) and finding Public Bank to to make payments to Exa Bytes, my webhost. Since it was New Year’s day Pubic Bank was closed. Luckily the cash deposit machines were working so I quickly banked in the money, took a picture of the receipt and email attached it to the billings department of Exa Bytes. The restored the websites about 5 hours later. All that during New Year’s day.

It’s a Canon Powershot SD 790IS. It’s something that I really wanted since last year. I was cameraless during the last Malaysian Open. It’s 10 Megapixels and I don’t know whether I would need such high and (large sized) picture files at 10 Megapixels.
