I am a web programmer not a web designer
I’ve been getting calls to design beautiful websites because that seems to be the nature of my work. Too bad I can’t take on these projects as I don’t mind the extra cash.
The reason is I am NOT A WEB DESIGNER but a web programmer. There is a big difference. Just because I have over 10 active blogs (mostly chess) does not mean I am any good in design
Web designers are artistic and creative people – two talents that I have in short supply.
I write programs. Programs that run on the internet. When it comes to design, I’m a big zero. The chess blogs I have uses designs that someone else has created (mostly for free). With free exisiting templates, I can come up with websites that can have interactive features such as contact forms, chat, forums, customer/members database etc. A website for a chess club/association is within my capabilities.
Web designers usually don’t write programs. When they need interactive features they usually call on services of web programmers. People who can design as well as program are rare (just like chess players who can play both d4 and e4 as White).
Anyway for the next few weeks I will not be active in my chess blogs as I will be doing some web programming.
