All set for Subic

At Excel Chess, because I was told there would be flag ceremony for the Malaysian contingent going for the ASEAN Chess Championship in Subic, Philippines. Had car problems and missed the flag ceremony. But was in time to catch the rest of the program for the day…

The Malaysian team all set with Air Asia bright red caps and T-shirt . Air Asia is sponsoring the flight for the Malaysian team to Philippines.

The scores were not important. As soon as a game ended Ziaur immediately started another. The games were probably warm up sessions and also a rough guide for the GM on the strength of the juniors.

There were more things planned for the rest of the days like training and talk sessions but I didn’t stay long as I had to visit the mechanic.

I hope once the team is in Subic we will have some daily updates from them via Skype to mobile phone calls.

It’s nice too as this is the first time I’ve ever had any news of Malaysians just before they leave the country. Previous events like these just happened without any publicity.
