Come let’s train together

Yesterday I admitted to my ally  – Starcraft partner in a game that I was only a couple of weeks playing the game. A “noob” in other words.

“It’s OK.Come let’s train together” was his response. We started another 2 vs 2 game but instead of 2 human opponents, he chose computers. What’s more the difficulty level was set at “high” which was akin to playing against Fritz. In chess this is no fun as you just get slaughtered by tactics and get a score of probably 10-0. Definitely not fun. Just like chess, in the Starcraft matchup , we got slaughtered fast surviving only two waves of attack. But after the game we improved and I really like the in-game chat feature where we anticipated what to do and lasted even longer. There was definite improvements made and we learnt a lot. After a few games, we finally found a way to defeat the two computer opponents.

I think such comrade should be helpful in chess too but I don’t I don’t have one.

Anyway I think it’s nice that a stranger offers to help another. In chess, it also changes my perception in using Fritz as a sparring partner. Of course you don’t play from the start but  set up certain opening positions and play from there to test pet opening lines for holes.
