He won 4 games but had to settle for a draw against Yat Guo Jie in round 3 and another draw after a tense last round battle vs Mohamed Ismail (Max).

Blogger Yat stayed back in KL instead of going to NAG in Penang. He took part in a simul against CM Collin Madhavan and got some consolation for missing NAG.
It’s good to see more chess simuls are they are good marketing tools to make chess more interesting to the public.

Malaysian 6 point lead gained on the first day playing classical was quicky erased on the second day when Singapore trounced Malaysia in 2 rounds of rapid as can be seen from the table above. The overall result enabled Singapore to take back the Dato’ Tan Kim Yeow Trophy – winning by a narrow one point.
