Saw this ad on one of our local chess blogs. The ad is from Google but someone has to pay for it to appear in chess related blogs that support Google Adsense. I’m guessing it’s from Kosteniuk herself or her agent/manager to promote her chess videos on Youtube. The videos in turn promotes her websites which should bring in additional traffic.
Good to see chess people are tech savvy enough to take advantage of online marketing

The “Bloggers united” KL Chess Open blog was just indexed by Google a couple of days ago. Previously all the traffic was referred to by this blog, Hairulov, Marcus Yeoh and Gilocatur blog. To hit 2000 visitors in the space of a week without search engine referral is certainly a good achievement.
Bordertown divx Bride Wars video We rank even higher than Chessdom and FIDE in the search term KL Chess Open. That’s a good thing as for the first time tonight I’m seeing traffic from search engine referrals.

KUALA LUMPUR: Eighteen internationally-ranked players from seven countries will be participating in the KL Chess Open 2008 at Bukit Jalil stadium.
Among them are Filipino grandmaster Mark Paragua, who became the youngest grandmaster at the age of nine; Uzbek grandmaster Filipov Anton and former world junior chess champion Aarthie Ramasamy.

The tournament will also see the debut of the DYTM Raja Nazrin Shah Challenge trophy.
The Bear movie It is also the first in Malaysia to host a category for the visually impaired, with RM1,000 in prize-money.
The tournament, which started yesterday, is the first international-level chess competition organised by the Kuala Lumpur Chess Association (KLCA).
Revelation dvdrip An exhibition of the simultaneous games will be held tomorrow while the Blitz Chess rounds start on Thursday.
Some RM45,000 is up for grabs in the tournament with RM10,000 going to the winner. The runner-up and third place winner will take home RM5,000 and RM3,000 respectively.
The prize-giving ceremony is on Sunday. The Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah will give away the prizes.

Took a different route home yesterday because I was curious to see exactly where the Venus Kids Chess Camp was held.
It’s a big double storey corner house that is converted into a day care center. They are no strangers to teaching kids. I guess it’s good to see more of such places teaching chess to beginners as we seriously need more new talents from the grassroots level.
I passed by Ikano Power Center and saw a similiar center teaching kids arts and craft. I could easily see chess fitting in nicely.

In fact, I already see this happening in one of the day care centres in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. They have employed the services of a few local coaches to teach chess to the kids as part of their holiday program.
