DATMO over or is it?
Dato Arthun Tan Malaysian Open is over. It has reached the 5 editions promised by Dato Tan. It is indeed sad to think there will be no more international tournaments of this magnitude in Malaysia for next year.
I was hoping that in Dato speech that new sponsors have already been found and would take over the Malaysian Open series for next year. Alas no announcements were made.
Still, next year is a long way off. Fingers crossed that by some miracle it can and will happen…
On the other hand, I’m relieved that the event is over because my website can’t take anymore high hits on traffic. Tonight is a record high at 650 visits in a day. It should be returning back to normal in a day or two.
It will also be interesting to see Edwin’s Lam article posted on Chessbase about the event (which should be coming out anytime).
Oh Edwin, if you are reading this, please don’t forget to mention the official tournament website:- www.DATMO.net
It was left out in every article you wrote past years and I had to email Chessbase to have it included.

Maybe so, but have you ever seen Dato’s daughter intoduced at a chess event and standing next to the MCF secretary and other GM’s. That in itself is an introduction of sorts. You don’t see his other children around, do you?
Anyway don’t you wish that is true anyway. Last time we had Mrs. Chen (now Datuk)of Selangor Pewter, whose sponsorship of Selangor Open is nearly as old as CAS itself.

When DATMO is going to be updated upto Round 11 with games & photos??
