GM Paragua to get serious again

Paragua’s decision to campaign actively for higher ratings so he can get back his super GM status in three months. He is now in New York where he is competing in a tough open tournament that counts among its participants former US champions like Joel Benjamin and other titans like John Fedorowicz. After that, he plans to enter the Foxwoods Open next month and the Chicago Open in May.

Paragua’s performance has been rather lack luster after his win in the Zonals in KL 3 years ago. He did badly in many of the Asian tourneys last year but is showing signs of regaining his old form in Tarakan, Indonesia.
