In the hot room:

My final position as White. I didn’t see the back rank mate.
Our team still won 4-0 because one move before the checkmate, Black had already ran out of time 
This means we will go back to the comfortable air con room next round.

Bloggers United met the UPM team. FireyRook and me lost but luckily Yat and Alfred won to tie the match so at least we were still unbeaten.
Sitting across us is last year’s defending champion. Team Roscharh. There are two rooms, the top 11 boards play in the cooler air con room. The lower boards play in the second room which also has air cons but is hotter. Our draw costed us to be demoted to the ‘hot room.

Didn’t see the results of the other teams so I’ll just report on my team, Bloggers United.
We met team with a scary name of Silent Killers. Luckily they were weak on board 1 and 3 which we quickly won as White. We lost board 2 against their strongest player who happened to be a female and Firey Rook drew an inferior position which was a good thing. So we won 2½ –1½. The team event is decided on Match Points and total points is used for tie break. A good first round results.
The Blogers United team composition : Yat Guo Jie, Alfred Ting, Andrew Ooi and Shamsuddin Sabri. We ‘lost’ a blogger, Marcus Yeoh, because he had some last minute thing but were lucky to find Alfred Ting on such short notice.
The event is quite strong with players like IM Mas, IM Mok, Ian Udani, Lim Zhuo Ren, Yeoh Li Tian and many other strong names I can’t recall at the moment.

This year’s team even has a record 43 teams taking part and from the faces I’ve seen, it’s going to be a very strong event.
