Seremban 88 - Pictorial report on CM Colin Mahadhavan’s Simul

Here’s a short pictorial report on the event that has been publicised in 2 major newspapers and was even mentioned in Susan Polgar’s blog.

Not only is the event free of registration fees. They even provide free breakfast. Hmmmm Nasi Lemak!!

A bus load of kids who will represent Seremban state in next week’s MSSM. Definitely not weak opponents for CM Colin!

Food didn’t last long though.. I went out for “second” round before the tournament started and it was finished :)

Is he giving a simul too?

And the games begin!! (around 9.30am).  Encik Kamar Dani. Found out from him that there will be a Seremban Circuit (4 legs) starting next month.

It starts to rain outside an hour later. That didn’t dampen the mood in the playing hall.

That’s Pok Wern Jian.

My game ended in a draw so I had some time to key in something for this blog (contents of the previous article) using my PDA plus foldable keyboard.

This kid took an interest and asked me if there was chess on my PDA. I told him “of course” and turned on Pocket Fritz which he enthusiastically began playing against. Like most people, I’ve given up playing against Fritz on the PC or the PDA but for someone so young I’m surprised that he told me that he is used to it.

At home he plays against Shredder and he says my Pocket Fritz is not as tough. He went into the endgame and only lost in 57 moves. I don’t think I can last that long against pocket Fritz myself.

I left early so I do not know the full scores. Will post it up once I know.
